Helmets, Dogs, and Orchids

Last night, before I went to bed, I briefly talked with my two new orchids.
I told them to get acquainted with each other and try to like each other, despite the difference in their color.
I felt kind of silly, but several friends told me that orchids require lots of love and attention.  And ice cubes!
This morning, Holly Golightly started barking from the living room, and low and beheld – the orchids became parents overnight to a white orchid!
Isn’t love beautiful?
You are probably wondering how I suddenly became a lover of plants?
I have always loved plants and other living things because they are not only beautiful – they are also intelligent!
Yes, you read it correctly – living things are intelligent – at least, they are to this scribe.
Let me give you an example of animal intelligence.
A gal pal recently sent me a YouTube video of a young girl and her dog – an Australian Sheppard.
I am not sure if it is a male or female, but I would guess the dog is a female because they are usually smarter than most males.  My gal pals would surely agree!
Here is the video:

If you can watch this in its entirety, you will be as amazed.
If you treat a dog as a family member, you will be rewarded with lots and lots of LOVE.

In closing, one of my friends in Ontario had the following photo on his LinkedIn page.
It is from the Chemical Engineering World.  I hope they don’t mind me posting this on my website.
Several of my friends are engineers, including Dale in Bedford, Dennis in the USA, and Ralph in West Vancouver.

And as a final note, I started a new daily routine for Holly and me.  I am taking her out for a short walk in the early morning and later in the afternoon/evening.
Yesterday was our first day.
In the morning, I drove down the block to the beach area.  The hill where I live is very steep, and it would be too strenuous for Holly to climb.
As soon as we got out of the car and began walking on the grassy area near the West Beach parking lot, Holly had a bowel movement!  Hurray!
In the evening, at about 7:00 PM, we walked up to Pacific Avenue, which is a short climb up the hill from where we live, but I carried her most of the way.
When we reached the sidewalk and began our walk, she had a bowel movement!
Since moving to White Rock, it is the first time that she has been able to go potty twice a day.
I have heard that it is normal for people to have two bowel movements per day.  And I suppose the same thing applies to the animal world.
In any event, it will do Holly good to get some fresh air and exercise.
I will still be doing my daily walks alone or with my walking club – the Vancouver ‘Venturers Walking Club.
Maybe, you would be interested in joining the club.
The pandemic restrictions in BC are getting relaxed, and we can now walk in groups of ten.
It will be the best thing you can do for your health, and you will get the added benefit of having two bowel movements per day.
And that’s no shit!
Dedicated to dog lovers, orchids, engineers, and of course, walkers!
I hope my stories are a gift to your head and heart.

Hugs,

Danny

It’s Up To You – lyrics

It’s up to you

‘Cause I’ve done everything I can

I hope that you

Will say that I’m your loving man

Make up your mind

And do what you’re gonna do

Well you know how I feel

So I’m leaving it up to you

It’s all so clear

That I would give everything I own

To have you near

Never leave me all alone

I need your love

So, darling, please be fair

Let me know where I stand

And I hope that you say you care

Well I’ve laid my cards on the table

And it’s oh so plain to see

That I’m ready, willing and able

To love you faithfully

It’s up to you

No, it’s not for me to say

You love me too

Oh, but I hope you feel that way

Make up your mind

And do what you’re gonna do

Well you know how I feel

So I’m leaving it up to you

Make up your mind

And do what you’re gonna do

Well you know how I feel

So I’m leaving it up to you

It’s up to you

Darling, it’s up to you

Baby, it’s up to you

Darling, it’s up to you

Baby, it’s up to you

Darling, it’s up to you

Baby, it’s up to you
